Elected Officials

Michael Weiss – Mayor

Mayor Michael Weiss is currently serving his third term as mayor. Mayor Weiss is active in many community organizations including the Spring City Lions and is an advid Phillies fan.

Louis Scott Di Guiseppe – Council President

Born in 1958 at the old Pottstown Hospital. I am the 3rd generation of Di Guiseppe to live in Spring City. Graduating from Spring-Ford High School in 1976 I went straight into the United States Navy. I served my county on a Fleet Ballistic Missile Nuclear Submarine. Upon completing my obligation to the Navy, I attended college to sharpen my business skills. After 30 years of middle management employment, I had to give up full time work and return to my family home to assist with 2 family members that were stricken with Macular Degeneration. In 2005 I took on the responsibility of transporting our youngest citizens as a school bus driver. Early in 2009 I was appointed to council to fill a vacated seat. The November 2009 election officially seated me on council. January 2010 I was selected by a council majority vote to serve as Borough Council President.

Donald Shaner – Council Vice President

Council Vice President Donald Shaner is serving his second term on borough council. He chairs the borough’s Sewer Committee.

Daniel Bauman, Sr. – Councilor

Daniel Bauman Sr. has been a Spring City resident for 64 years. Bauman has been active with the Liberty Fire Company for 41 years serving as firefighter, assistant chief and driver. He also served on the Spring City Planning Commission. Councilor Bauman retired from Bell Atlantic after a 31 year career.

Gene Sweeney – Councilor

Councilman Sweeney began his tenure with borough council in 2012. He is a member of Police Committee and recently became the borough webmaster. Sweeney is a middle school business teacher specializing in computer applications and career education. He has an associate’s degree from Montgomery County Community College and BS and Master’s degrees from Kutztown University. In his free time, Sweeney plays guitar with a number of local bands and music acts. He and wife Vicki have one son, Daniel.

Paul KernCouncilor

Paul Kern has been a Spring City resident for 27 years and a lifelong resident of the Spring-Ford area. Kern has been active with the Liberty Fire Company, serving as the president for 13 years. He also serves as a Deacon at the First United Church of Christ, Spring City. He has been employed as telephone technician for 28 years.

Michael Batelle – Councilor

Norm Castor – Councilor

Castor has been a resident of Spring City since 2004.  After high school he served his country in the US Army Reserves.  He then attended Temple University and received my Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration attending night classes.  He is currently a QA Engineer at Gateway Ticketing in Gilbertsville.
In his spare time he enjoys fishing, camping, hockey, celebrating his Irish heritage and spending time with his 14 year old son, Dillon.
