Donald Shaner – Council President

Council Vice President Donald Shaner is serving his second term on borough council. He chairs the borough’s Sewer Committee.

Gene Sweeney – Council Vice President

Councilman Sweeney began his tenure with borough council in 2012. He is a member of Police Committee and recently became the borough webmaster. Sweeney is a middle school business teacher specializing in computer applications and career education. He has an associate’s degree from Montgomery County Community College and BS and Master’s degrees from Kutztown University. In his free time, Sweeney plays guitar with a number of local bands and music acts. He and wife Vicki have one son, Daniel.

Daniel Bauman, Sr. – Councilor

Daniel Bauman Sr. has been a Spring City resident for 64 years. Bauman has been active with the Liberty Fire Company for 41 years serving as firefighter, assistant chief and driver. He also served on the Spring City Planning Commission. Councilor Bauman retired from Bell Atlantic after a 31 year career.

Paul KernCouncilor

Paul Kern has been a Spring City resident for 27 years and a lifelong resident of the Spring-Ford area. Kern has been active with the Liberty Fire Company, serving as the president for 13 years. He also serves as a Deacon at the First United Church of Christ, Spring City. He has been employed as telephone technician for 28 years.

Michael Batelle – Councilor

Michael Battelle moved to the area n 2000 to attend college where he studied pastoral counselling at Valley Forge University. In 2003 he married Deshana, his wife of now 15 years and they settled in Spring City in 2011 purchasing a duplex near Main Street. Since 2005 Michael has worked in accounting/finance in the area for several major companies and earned his BS in accounting in 2014 From Albright College. Michael was appointed to council in 2015 to fulfill the term of an existing councilor and was elected in 2016.
Michael is a member of the Glenside VFW, Liberty Fire House, Kimberton Fish & Game Association, and several other local organizations. Michael and Deshana are also longtime supporters of the local music and Jazz scene and taught dance classes in the tri-state area for 10 years. He was able to use his connections with the community to organize the annual Spring City Car Show. Michael’s passions are music, dancing, commecting with the community, supporting local business, and is an avid BBQ cook and fan.

Norm Castor – Councilor

Norm Castor has been a resident of Spring City since 2004.  He is on his third term as Councilman.  He is a member of the Parks and Recreation and Police Committee and was an active participant in planning the Spring City 150 events and festivities.
After high school he served US Army.  He then attended Temple University and have a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration.  He is continuing his education; taking classes online at Stanford University.
He is a QA Engineer at Gateway Ticketing in Gilbertsville.
In his spare time he enjoys fishing, camping, hockey, Eagles football, and celebrating his Irish heritage and spending time with his son, Dillon.
